Introduction
The History of MediaMan
MediaMan started out as a school project in my final year of bachelor degree back in 2003. The primary reason I choose to develop such a program, is at that time, although there are plenty of programs on the market serve the needs, none of them seemed to be standing out as a clear lead. And besides, I wanted something small enough to finish on time, and yet to come with certain market value, so that I can continuously work on it after school.
MediaMan 0.8 is the first version published on the web, and it is the same version that handed in as the school project. It contains 17,000 lines of C/C++ code. And like other programs in the early stage, it has lots of bugs, and the function is fairly simple. MediaMan 0.8 has only compact and expanded list view mode. It supports content retrieval from Amazon United States. Nested categories and item importing and editing is pretty much the same as now. Its primary feature is that instead of using different programs to manage different media, MediaMan is a single program that is capable of managing all kinds of stuff.
The latest version of MediaMan contains more than 90,000 lines of code. It came a long way. And MediaMan is now one of the best available media organizers. With elegant architecture and design MediaMan not only serves the purpose of digital cataloging, but also provides user with unparalleled experience.
