MediaMan 3.1 Beta Available

Last Updated on: Oct 3, 2010

MediaMan 3.1 is now available for public beta testing. Although tagged beta, this build is recommended for both new users and current customers to experience and explore new features and technologies in the upcoming major update. To evaluate it, simply click the following link to download and install like any other software:

Download MediaMan 3.1 Setup (runs on Windows XP, Vista, and 7, both x86 and x64 editions)

While evaluating, please note:

Version 3.1 build 1100 fixed numerous issues in build 1090, we recommend everyone who used build 1090 to try out the new build.

Build 1101 fixed minor problems such as the option to sort by Catalog Number, and switched Amazon content retrieval to non-API based. It's possible that any previous version of MediaMan will experience low quality web import service, due to the limitation in newly introduced Amazon API policy change after October 15, 2010. It's recommended for all users to try this build for stable import service.

Please enjoy these screenshots from version 3.1:

A dynamic new design of window caption area. It utilizes screen space more wisely, and provides access to more features while occupying less in height (compared to 3.0). The tabs on top represents "organize modes" such as folder/tag/flag. The tool-stripes below it are shrinkable, so that you get more tools displayed for quicker access using a large monitor, while still being able to use these features in small screen devices such as tbook.

Yes, there are 4 variations (bamboo, classic wood, zinc board, purple curtain) of theme by default, all new, see how easy it is to change a variation now. More themes will be available for free right after the final release.

Enjoy music while browsing the collection. Music playback is now inside a "slide-in" basket feature.

The reworked editing function is still HTML based, but much easier to operate. Plus, editing is also accessible in popup item detail windows.

TThe improved import panel now displays all options instead of hiding them in a menu. Import progress, result selecting are simplified into a single panel. Downloading speed is also improved as MediaMan is now capable of downloading pictures for multiple tasks simultaneously.

A small improvement to the Tag mode. Related tags are now always displayed at bottom, so that you don't need to scroll down even if you have a very large set of tags.

Last but not least, one of the best features of this upcoming update is performance. MediaMan 3.1 runs much faster than any of its ancestors. Compared to 2.x series and 3.0, program startup is 5x-8x faster, folder/tag switching is 2x-3x faster.. It uses 60% as much as memory compared to v3.0. Virtual Shelf rendering is capable of utilizing all cores/threads/processors and renders almost instantly. Lengthy tasks such as duplication check and collection file updating are now done smoothly in the background.

MediaMan 3.1 runs efficiently even on low-profile computers such as Intel Atom based netbooks, utilizing much less CPU power, saving more battery.
