Transferring settings between users and computers
To use the information in this article, you must upgrade to version 2.60 or newer and run MediaMan for at least once after the upgrade.
Since version 2.60, MediaMan stores some of the program preference settings in the application data folder (typically, C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\MediaMan). The information of custom icons, tags, and call-out/value-remembering settings will be stored in C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\MediaMan\Data\Settings.txt. Moreover, the icon importing function in version 2.60 and above will first make a copy of the icon files and put the copy in the same folder of "Settings.txt".
Therefore, if you need to transfer your custom icon settings, and created tags to another computer, or another user, just copy the C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\MediaMan\Data to the corresponding user directory or the corresponding directory on the other computer.
Please note that the "Application Data" folder is hidden by default. To see it in Windows Explorer (My Computer), you need to open Tools->Folder Options in Windows Explorer (My Computer), click "View" tab, under "Hidden files and folders", select "Show hidden files and folders", click "OK" to accept settings.
Please also note that the "User" in the example path given above, should be replaced with your Windows user account name. Do not copy the MediaMan folder to the "All Users" application data folder. MediaMan will not attempt to read the settings in the "All Users" application data folder. Even the settings can be copied, they are still per-user settings.
