Recent Update Didn't Fix Anything, Only Broke It More By: TheAnswerMVP2001 Date: July 05, 2011
I'm unable in import from Amazon, IMDB, anywhere all I get is "no results", and the program seems to have deactivated my key code, it does not show me activated.  When I enter my code it says Thanks for activating and still won't import!  Then I go back to the activation menu and it doesn't seem to have activated me at all.  It's possible the two aren't related and I'm not getting any messages that I need to activate, but the import feature in definitely not working...

In fact, there's no function in MediaMan to deactivate a license. There are a handful of people experienced this issue, it's caused by two reasons:

1. You've inserted a new network card (which MediaMan uses to ID your computer)
2. Your application data folder is broken, deleted, or restored to earlier states by yourself or other programs.

If you are talking about version 3.10 build 1107. It should fix import from Amazon. If you are still experiencing trouble, check your firewall software, and see if it's blocking MediaMan. I recommend that you use Windows' built-in firewall software only. Sometimes, other firewall tends to block the program again if it's changed (i.e. upgraded). And due to some mix ups it won't prompt you about this. This is a common misunderstanding.

Firewall is not blocking it and I don't have a network card I have a wireless adapter.  The adapter is new as of a week or so, if this is the problem I do I fix it?  I tried removing the program and re-installing it, still not importing, running repair did nothing either.

Could you try searching something using Google Books? You'll see if MediaMan is able to connect to the Internet or it fails on Amazon in particular.

I'm not quite sure why this would happen to you beyond the firewall factor. I can try and investigate, but since Amazon import works in my test environment, and everyone else, I might not have a solution for you. Either you have a software firewall, or your network provider is blocking your access from amazon.com . It's also possible that you have misconfigured your Internet settings. Either way it's not a bug of MediaMan.

FYI, a "wireless adapter" is a "wireless network adapter". It's considered a network card. As I said, MediaMan uses it to ID your computer. It means it'll require you to activate again if the primary network card on your computer changes. So if you installed a new card and MediaMan prompts to activate, it's designed to happen. And by the way, installing a new card doesn't have anything to do with the import function. So it's not related.

I don't think reinstalling MediaMan or repairing your file will fix anything. I certainly didn't recommend you to do so. I can tell you that MediaMan 3.10 build 1107 is working fine. And it has to be one of the reasons I mentioned that caused import to fail.

I cannot import from anywhere, Amazon, IMDb all no results.  My network provider is not blocking anything, and I don't see how my internet settings could be incorrect when I never changed them to begin with!

Something is wrong with the program, even if it's limited to my installation.  I have absolutely no trouble importing items using MY MOVIES which is a similar program.  So if it is my "internet settings" which I highly doubt, be so kind as to tell me what those settings should be, or maybe it's some setting in MediaMan itself that were altered during the update.  This has happened to me a couple years ago and I seem to faintly remember it being a settings issue with MediaMan

Well, I'm sorry for inconvenience. Amazon servers might be behaving differently to your particular ISP or location. I'm not sure yet, I can tell you that only a very small fraction of people are affected by this. I'll investigate.

And again, can you import from Google Books? If not, it's very possible that firewall of some kind is blocking MediaMan.

As I've stated before I can't import anything, Google Books just freezes the program IMDb and Amazon give instant no results.  Windows Firewall has MediaMan as an exception, that's the only firewall I have on my computer.  I even uninstalled AVG Anti Virus thinking it might have done something, still not working.

I think I'm going to start fully transitioning over to My Movies, it seems to be a much stabler program, more features and it allows me to transfer my collection to access on my Android tablet.  MediaMan just appears to be way too finicky, maybe it's just my computer but My Movies has given me zero issues thus far and MediaMan seems to stop working on me everytime I really need to use it.

I have the same problem, though I can't seem to find Google Books in the Import section. I only have a list with various Amazons (US, UK, France,...) and Barnes and Noble. I can't import from any of those. As it has been a long time since I last used MediaMan (when everything still worked as it's supposed to), I'm not sure what might have changed since then, but here are a few possibilities:

* A new motherboard, probably with built-in network adapter;
* I moved my usermap (also AppData etc.) from the C disk to another one.

I have updated and reactivated MediaMan and made new firewall rules (also Windows Firewall) so that incoming and outgoing connections to and from MediaMan are explicitly allowed.

@reneald you are reporting an unrelated problem. You are using version 3.0 series. Please upgrade to 3.10 build 1107 to solve your problem.

@TheAnswerMVP, I'm now able to reproduce this issue under Windows XP without any service packs. If you are running Windows XP too, wait for the fix please. I'm sorry for inconvenience.

I'm not so sure if you have had other problems with the product. I checked your posts and it looks like it's the first time you post. If you are experiencing other problems. Sometimes it's easier to just have a talk. I'm sure most problems are just misunderstanding of features, rather than bugs.

Ah so I was correct then, it was the last update!  Everything is working now.  I appreciate you looking into it, sorry if I seemed a little overly frustrated.  I'll keep the program around as a backup and use it for cataloging some other things, but as far as my film collection goes I'm still going to gravitate more towards My Movies just because the mobile app feature makes it much more useful to me.

Oh, not really shure how I managed to install the wrong version, but you're right, everything works fine now. Thanks!

This described my issue pretty close. The recent updates now allow me to get search results back from IMDB and Amazon. But when multiple results come back, I cannot "Ctrl+Click" or even normally left click anything to add to my library. When I go to activate, it doesn't show me as having activated. When I go to "About" it does show one license active though.

Has anyone tried the latest version out yet? I'm thinking about giving it a shot.
