I just purchased mediaman and I'm having fun getting organized. It is pretty straightforward and flexible.
I want to beable to track WHERE something is. I know there's a LOCATION field in the item detail, but I think it requires entering in each item. I want to be able to mass assign location, similar to tags.
Is TAG the best way to keep up with an item's location? Or is there an easier way to mass update the location field?

It's easy. Just select a few items and go to the Edit panel. If you enter some location and press Save, the location field will be applied to all selected items.
Lots of people use tags for identify location. If you find it easier to use tag instead, you might as well use it. There are no official ways to keep stuff organized. As long as you find it easy to work with, you can use it.
